BUSINESS SYMPOSIUM

This week was the business symposium and the week when topics were cemented. More progress was made in the field of study of medical ethics in that an assessment was completed and the digital portfolio was more etched out.

The business symposium was a wonderful learning experience and connections were made which will hopefully further the progress of learning in the ISM journey this year. Any worry that might have been in the mind of any ISM 2 student this year that the business symposium would be too similar to last years for it to be a truly helpful experience was squashed. Said ISM 2 students were pulled aside for the beginning portion of the symposium to help ISM 1 students and answer questions. This sort of mentorship opportunity was both helpful to them and aforementioned ISM 2 students. The opportunity to teach is also the opportunity to learn. Additionally, the one interview conducted with a professional was quality and hopefully this year no one was said to lack personality. There was certainly much less pressure on previously mentioned ISM 2 students than last year, as the process is one said students are more familiar with.

Beyond the symposium which was obviously the highlight of the week, choosing the final topic and annalyzing it was a very big step in ensuring overall success in the program this year. The topic is obviously central to all work that will be done this year so etching it out and understanding why it is the best pursuit of time is vital. Medical ethics has been ultimately chosen (no surprise), and the IsM 2 student writing this report is very excited to continue progress in the program and in understanding medical ethics.

In the coming week, a few steps will need to be taken to assertion that understanding. The ISM student that is writing this report is grievously behind on interviews, and very aware of that fact. Follow ups will need to happen and new professionals will need to be contacted. In the meantime another research assessment will likely need to be completed, unfortunately, instead of an interview assessment.
