PREPARATION FOR RESEARCH PRESENTATION

This week was actually very busy, but with larger projects than usual. The first was, of course, beginning the original work. The second was the research presentation which will be on 11/5. Additionally, as this week was the last of the second six weeks it was taken advantage of to plan for the future in ISM.

Beginning the original work is exciting. This year the author of this weekly report’s original work of will focus on the opioid crisis in America. As already established the original work will have two parts; research and synthesis. First and foremost is the research part, which began this week with an assessment on addiction. Addiction is a very broad topic, but understanding the basics is vital to gaining a deeper understanding later on. Additionally, the article on addiction showed some open questions that can be pursued in the future. Next week's assessment will focus on something more specific, possibly something like the statistics of opioid addictions.

Additionally, as the research presentation is an upcoming deadline the week was spent preparing. Using the slide show the writer of this assessment was able to plan the flow of the presentation. It is seeming a bit more difficult to find a good flow and story to tell this year but it is coming along. Luckily the nervousness is much less than last year, likely because of the amount of presentations given in ISM 1.

Looking to the future research will continue on opioid addiction. Additionally, beyond the interview at the star (which the writer of this assessment has reached out to achieve) some more opioid specific interviews should be begun. A plan will need to be made for the schedule of the original work. Finally, a lot of time will need to be spent preparing for the upcoming presentation.
