FPN is Approaching

3/19/18 - 3/25/18

This past week has made it extremely clear that final presentation night is approaching fast. In addition to a mentor visit and working on my final product, I also began working on my FPN invitation and guest list.

I went on another mentor visit this week where I talked to my mentors to establish a plan for beginning the writing of my grant. After deciding that I would focus on the lyric factor, they assigned me to write a background for the parasite and disease that will eventually be included in my grant. They also suggested looking up some medical research papers on the lytic factor so that I could see what open questions remain in the field. They also said they could set up a phone interview with a woman working with lytic factors and cows in New York, which would be extremely cool. I would need to do some preparations with research and questions before I talk to her.

In regards to final presentation night, I have begun to work out a few key details. I have begun the invitations, although some of the information still needs to be clarified. I think I am going to stick to my theme from the research showcase but spruce it up a bit. Additionally, I am assembling my guest list. I have a few people I would really like to attend as they have mentored me over the years, and I will definitely invite my family. I’m not sure how many people will be able to attend, but I’m happy to invite them. The most stressful part of the planning right now is finding a room. A lot of the teachers I have asked have already told someone else yes, and although I was going to ask Ms. Peters, she doesn’t seem thrilled with the ISM program right now. I’m sure I will find someone, but it’s a little difficult.

I’m looking forward to the FPN as I think it will be a really good way to present my work so far this year. Especially if I manage to create a quality final product.
