FInal Countdown (of interviews)

11/27/17 - 12/3/17

This week was a very exciting milestone because I have finished the required five interviews, have a mentor in mind, and have begun work on my original work.

One of the most exciting part of the week was getting my original work proposal approved. This meant I could begin work on my original work, which I did right away. I was able to get my form done, although I still need to do some proofing. I also want to consult the statistics textbook and possible an expert. I also got the original work log started. I think it's best to keep up with the log as I go, so I made sure to get it caught up to the present.

I also enjoyed my fifth interview. I finished my fourth interview assessment, meaning I have one more interview assessment to go, over the most recent interview. It was much different than my previous interviews, and lasted around two hours. I went to Baylor Scott & White to meet with Ms. Caren Swift, a RN at a center for metabolic research. I actually got to talk with several people besides the Dr. Swift. I really enjoyed meeting everyone, and it was neat because it was like several small interviews in one. If asking Dr. Phillips to be my mentor does not work, I might consider asking someone from the Baylor Scott & White facility to mentor me. I also got to tour the facilities while I was there, which allowed me to see a lot of the machinery and labs. I could definitely see myself working there.

In addition to my original work and interview, I’ve also been working on my digital portfolio and scheduling a time to see Dr. Phillip’s lab again and ask her to be my mentor. I've set up a time on Tuesday of next week to go back to her office and see a lab meeting. I'm very excited that I'm finishing the interview process and I'm looking forward to my original work and having a mentor.
