Assessment Junction. What's your function?

1/22/18 - 1/28/18

This week marked the end of my original work project. I submitted my original work on Monday and finished the original work assessment friday. Additionally, I spent the week trying to schedule a mentor visit with my mentors, plan for the final product, and writing a research assessment.

Finishing my original work was very exciting. I feel it is a big step forward in creating a portfolio to show colleges and professionals. I completed my research paper with a total of eighty-three pages; about twenty pages were my thoughts on the research, and the rest were a compilation of the collected data. The research paper combined my plan, analysis, and survey results into one easily accessible project. Additionally, I finished the original work assessment. I was a little confused at first because I felt like my project and the assessment were very similar. However, I used the assessment to focus more on my thought process and my project more to focus on the actual results of the survey.

This week was very assessment heavy; in addition to my original work assessment, I also completed a research assessment. I used one of the articles from my original work research (on the flu) and went more in depth while focusing on the future. Unless I choose to do my final product on the flu, this will likely be the last of y research on the flu for a little while. I'm waiting to decide on my final product until I speak with my mentors about it.

Luckily, I have managed to schedule a mentor visit for February sixth. I will attend a lab meeting and then speak with my mentors about the mentorship and final product. I will need to print out the menot packets and start brainstorming ideas for my final project. I am looking forward to beginning my mentorship and final project, and I am very proud of my completed original work.
